Moumoukai bush toilet water line repair

28 March 2025

Visitors to the Moumoukai area within the Hunua Ranges Regional Park in Auckland rely on the public toilets maintained by our Small Waters Team.

The critical water supply line was recently replaced after an underground leak was discovered 200 metres up the hill in the bush between the toilet and the rainwater supply.

The leak reduced the water supply and consequently shut the toilets.

Citycare Water specialist crews collaborated to circumvent the leak by creating a new pipeline, which saved Auckland Council the cost of regular tank fills to keep the toilets open.

Special approvals are needed when we work in the bush, and sometimes, we need to close the regional park temporarily to access pipes under the road.

Thanks to park users for their patience during these essential repair projects.

For this job, the Small Waters Team, helped by Water Reactive crews and the Reinstatement Team, cut across the road and fed the new pipeline through the bush.

Electrofusion couplers were used to ensure the longevity of the connection between the 100m lengths of pipe.

Great teamwork everyone!
