A new 80-hectare village in Karaka, South Auckland, with 850 homes to be built over the next eight years, will benefit from the latest smart meter technology in its water infrastructure.
Citycare Water will install cutting-edge smart meter technology, which will monitor water use when the homes are plumbed. Our supplier, Landis & Gyr, will provide state-of-the-art ultrasonic smart meters that connect using the One New Zealand mobile network, ensuring the highest level of efficiency and accuracy in water monitoring.
The Karaka North subdivision includes its own water systems utilising underground aquifers, and our subsidiary company Apex Water, a specialist in the design and build of turnkey water and wastewater treatment plants, is currently constructing a 3-million-litre potable water reservoir and wastewater treatment plant for the village.
Safe Water for Life is an integral part of how this community is being established, and this project is a great opportunity for the Citycare Water and Apex Water teams to work together to deliver a seamless process for our customers.
Citycare Water teams often tackle high-risk connections with extra safety precautions, such as the recent installation of two rising wastewater mains for Watercare in Drury South.
