Citycare Water teams often tackle high-risk connections with extra safety precautions, such as the recent installation of two rising wastewater mains for Watercare in Drury South.
As the population of Opāheke, Drury South and Drury West is forecast to increase in coming years, Auckland Council/Watercare are investing in upgrading trunk water and wastewater networks to service the area.
These two rising wastewater mains connect to the existing wastewater network – the Hingaia pump station and the Southern Interceptor to the Mangere wastewater treatment plant.
The work on the mains was classed as high risk due to the 4-5 metre depth that the Citycare Water Auckland Construction crews completed.
At one end of the site, a 3m² box trench shield was installed. At the other end, open space meant the team was able to bench back significantly, creating stepped levels for safety.
The work was hindered by a small amount of residual flow which was plugged by the team and allowed for a perfect weld of the PE pipework.
Great work creating assets for the future prosperity of Auckland everyone!
Citycare Water’s underwater remote-operated vehicle (ROV) performed reservoir inspections on the southern West Coast for the Westland District Council recently.
Extensive planning happens between Citycare Water and New Plymouth District Council behind the scenes when major repairs are required for the water mains.
